ORIGIN OF BRAND

The barbecue sauce was previously a local condiment found in Chaozhou, China. HAW-DI-I founder Liu, Lai-Qin came to Taiwan and opened a noodle booth for livelihood. Liu let his customers add the home-made "Barbecue Powder" from his memory to the noodle, and the delicious flavor became widely popular. Later, Mr. Liu, Lai-Qin made the Barbecue powder into the Barbecue sauce and founded the "HAW-DI-I Foods Co., Ltd." Liu also branded the products as "Bullhead." Since then, the sudden small change by Mr. Liu led to revolutionary changes in Taiwan's cuisine.

Bullhead brand originated from Mr. Liu, Lai-Qin, was born from the year of the ox, and hence the brand was named bullhead. "Five-Petal Cherry Blossom" symbolizes five fortune, namely joy, happiness, longevity, success, and peace. The white color represents the "legal compliance and integrity" of the corporate culture while red suggests passion, the corporate philosophy of "diligence, sincerity, quality, and sharing with others."

From street booth to a professional food factory, Bullhead remains diligent for more than 60 years and has been professionally certified by HACCP, SQF, FSSC22000, TQF, and the dual clean label in Taiwan and abroad.

HAW-DI-I Foods Co., Ltd. was founded by Mr. Liu, Lai-Qin – the "Founder of Taiwan Barbecue Sauce" in 1958.
In the last 60 years, the company has upheld the business philosophy of "diligence, sincerity, quality and sharing with others" to emphasize the care of demand and service quality for consumers.

My father, Mr. Liu, Lai-Qin was always willing to share with others. He upheld sincerity, diligence, and the spirit of advancement by establishing the "HAW-DI-I Foods Co., Ltd." in 1958, using "Bullhead" as the brand. He was committed to promoting the savor of Barbecue Sauce. For more than half a century, the brand, Bullhead Barbecue Sauce has become an indispensable sauce in Taiwan and the overseas Chinese communities. The powerful image of a family savor has been embedded in many people.
Inheriting the spirit of Mr. Liu, Lai-Qin to share with others, and to meet the demand for young brand and diversity, we have imported non-GMO Golden Sweet Corn and Cream Style Cornfrom the U.S. and Thailand over the years. We have developed the shallot sauce, curry paste, broth, and stock cube series. Our savory, safe and convenient quality products are quite popular among consumers.

Giving Back to Society

HAW-DI-I has always focused on social responsibility and remembers to give back to society. For this reason, HAW-DI-I has been committed to charity since the establishment. Apart from long-term sponsorship of elementary school lunch suburbs, and endorsing and caring for supplying disadvantaged groups, we also donate ambulances for Tainan City Fire Department and community patrol vehicles. Moreover, we have established the Liu, Lai-Qin Scholarship at National Cheng Kung University to encourage students with academic excellence.
